April 16, 2009, (Sawf News) - Mod'Art International, a sister institute of Mod'Art, one of the most exclusive Parisian fashion schools, presented a fashion show in Mumbai at Enigma bar and night club in Juhu on Wednesday, April 15.

Mod'Art India is a fusion between France’s fashion tradition and indigenous designs of India - rich in tradition, vibrant in colors that vary from one village to another village, from one city to another city.

Models used the bar counter as runway. Most of the designs presented were short summary dresses with bare backs, bare shoulders, frills, layers.

Vibrant colors were mixed and matched as well as stand alone whites. There was a white strapless evening gown with a high riding side slit that rested the eye. Asymmetrical hems were the order of the day.

The show was attended by Bollywood and Indian TV celebrities such as Salman Khan's sister Arpita Khan, Yash Tonk, Gauri Tonk, Vrajesh Hirjee, Tanaz Currim and Riva Bubber among others.

While several leading fashion houses of the world are setting up their operations in India the French company decided to build its extension in India with its school in Mumbai to occupy the centre of this movement.

The purpose is to use the French knowledge in the fashion area in India to fuel the growth of indigenous designs. The educational techniques from MOD’ART Paris will allow the Indian students to become very skilled and creative designers.

Internship facilities for the students are available from the most prestigious companies in Paris fashion. Mod'Art students have worked with Agnès B., Balenciaga, Corinne Cobson, Chloé, Céline, Gucci, Lanvin, Marithé & François Girbaud, Bill Tornade, Stella Cadente, Gaspard Yurkievich, l'Appart, Jacadi, Jean-Paul Knott, Promo Styl, Prada, Vivienne Westwood, Manfield, Vogue Italie in the paris branch.
