January 02, 2010, (Sawf News) - The 2009 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in New York was hosted by hot new mama Heidi Klum and marked the introduction of five new angels - Chanel Iman, Emanuela de Paula, Rosie Huntington-Whitely, LindsayEllingson and Candice Swanepoel.

The show was divided into five sections with twelve outfits each, themes being Enchanted Forest, Star Trooper, All Aboard, Pink Planet, and Romantic Journey. The styles on display ranged from futuristic funky to pop playful.

Show's stylist Charlotte Stockdale explained the concept of the entire show to fashion.elle.com: "We came up with the idea of this girl who lands from outer space in Paris. She gets on a train that comes to a halt in Pinkland, where pink girls get on and off. Then they go into this fairy-tale forest and little lady bugs and butterflies land on them and vines grow up on their clothes. Then, there's Tick-Tock Time; the wings in this section are based on clocks — there's one modeled after a pocket watch with metallic feathers. And she ends up in this regal realm of princess-ness, where the wings have Swarovski jewels and peacock feathers."

The wings worn by the angels were fantastical including features like ruffled feathers, fairy-tale flowers, graceful butterflies, childish balloons, sparkling tiny wings and lots of other details that made the outfits unforgettable.

The wings seen on Doutzen Kroes, strutting a green bikini, were crafted by Designer Marian "Killer" Hose, and the designs were inspired by "travel, film, and glamour," using leather, vinyl, organza ribbon, velvet, and rhinestones.

Todd Thomas, the costume designer this year, told Elle, "The wings are very more conceptually driven than in years past—and sublimely executed. Look closely at the details this year. They're really remarkable."

This year the Victoria's Secret show went back to New York. The venue was a working military training and recruitment station- 69th Regiment Armory.

"I think the venue is perfect, because we do like to transform our places into something sexy," said company CEO Sharen Turney.

"It has a lot of glamour, a lot of mystique. The Armory's really a perfect place for us."

Klum made a surprise cameo on the runway for the Enchanted Forest segment, just six weeks after giving birth to her fourth child. She strutted a scintillating green corset atop a sheer bodice purple gown with white feathered full skirt, by Jane Law. She accessorized with Mouawad jewels and Giuseppe Zanotti heels, looking quite a creature of the forest herself.

"I am excited," she told Usmagazine backstage shortly before walking out to cheers. "I'm keeping it all together."

Two of the popular Victoria's Secret angels Adriana Lima and Karolina Kurkova were missing from the show due to their recent child birth.

Three time Grammy winner Black Eyed Peas performed as other gorgeous angels followed Klum and scorched the ramp.

The runway was a V shaped sparkling grey platform. Alessandra Ambrosio, opened the show dressed as a star in flaming pink and orange, "Its not the wings this time. I'm a star," she said in an interview to Elle.

This year Marisa Miller sparkled in the $3 million Harlequin fantasy bra designed by Damiani, which had a 16-carat heart-shaped champagne diamond pendant hanging in the front surrounded by over 2,350 brilliant-cut white, champagne and cognac-colored diamonds totalling 150 carats.

"It's like being a princess," Miller, 31, told Usmagazine.com. "Wearing it on the runway is such an honor." But did she get to keep it? "I don't get to keep the bra, but I'm like, can I get a discount or something?" Miller joked to Us.

In the past Heidi Klum, Gisele Bundchen and Adriana Lima, have done the honour strutting diamond lingerie.

Second to walk the runway, Australian Miranda Kerr took the show by storm as she walked in a black ensemble, paired with tiny black wings.

Not only was she the chosen Angel this year, since she got to wear the Fantasy Bra this year, but she also looked quite the devilish angel in the little red number she had on later, teamed with devil like red wings.

Liu Wen, 21, of China was the first Asian model ever to walk the runway for Victoria's Secret.

Barbie faced Douzten Kroes turned heads as she strutted the runway in a mauve bikini and a drape over her shoulders decorated with butterflies.

"We found out, with the model search, just how many girls want to do this, and I feel so blessed," said Kroes.

The celebrities who walked the famous pink carpet included Jay-Z, Gossip Girl star - Michelle Trachtenberg, Dr. Dre and Jeremy Sisto.
