British pop star Williams to entertain Hong Kong -- at a cost
Posted on Monday, June 05, 2006 (EST)
British superstar Robbie Williams is set to play one of the most expensive concerts ever held in Hong Kong, with tickets selling for up to 2,480 Hong Kong dollars (318 US dollars), according to media reports.

HONG KONG (AFP) - Pop star Williams, who first soared to the top of the British charts in 1995 with the ballad "Angels", will play his second-ever show in the city in November, promoters Midas confirmed.

A report in the South China Morning Post said the former Take That star would be charging up to 2,480 dollars for VIP tickets, while the rest would be sold for between 500 and 1,000 dollars.

Hong Kong concert ticket prices are notoriously high; the most expensive concert ever held here was by wrinkly rockers The Eagles who got a peaceful easy feeling out of charging punters 2,750 dollars per ticket when they played in October 2004.

Midas said full details of the Williams show -- including date and venue -- would be released next week.
