Washington, Aug 23: 'Just Married' Star Brittany Murphy won't be tying the knot anytime soon, as she has publicly called off her engagement to her production assistant fiancé, Joe Macaluso.

A spokesperson for the actress confirmed the split, saying, "Brittany Murphy and Joe Macaluso have amicably ended their engagement.

"They remain close friends and wish each other much happiness," the representative further told E!Online.

The couple met when Joe was working as a best boy grip - a member of the crew responsible for lighting and electricity - on her hit romantic comedy 'Little Black Book'. They started dating soon after filming wrapped on the flick.

The duo announced their engagement earlier this year, with Macaluso popping the question on New Year's Eve. (ANI)
