London, June 29 (ANI): Harry Potter author JK Rowling saved the elf Kreacher from being axed in the new Potter movie.
Director David Yates reveals that he was going to leave the Black family’s house elf, whose currently in service to Harry, out of the movie adaptation of the fifth book – Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
However, Rowling soon changed his mind.
“We took Kreacher out, and JK said, ‘Listen guys, you don’t have to put Kreacher back, but I’m just telling you, if you want to kind of keep a thread going for six and seven, you might want Kreacher to come back’” The Sun quoted him, as saying.
Yates also believes that Rowling’s warning not the leave Kreacher out of the movie shows that he has a part to play in the final Potter book.
“She basically told us Kreacher plays a role in seven,” Yates said.
Yates admitted that he had been forced to cut some scenes from the book, because the time limit was just too short to include all that happens.
Characters that have gone include Dobby the elf. There are also no Quidditch scenes in the movie, as well as the part where Harry’s best friend Ron Weasley becoming a champion.
Kreacher is Harry’s godfather Sirius Black’s house elf, and Harry inherits after Sirius dies at the end book five. (ANI)
