October 18, 2008, (Sawf News) - Warner Bros. has roped in George Miller to helm The Odyssey, an adaptation of Greek poet Homer's similarly titled masterpiece on the Trojan war. Brad Pitt will star in the film that will be produced by his production house Plan B.
The Odyssey, the second of the two poems by Homer, is a sequel to The Iliad,which was turned into the 2004 blockbuster Troy by Warner Bros. Pitt played Achilles in the film that was directed by Wolfgang Petersen.
The Odyssey is the story of Greek hero Odysseus (or Ulysses, as he was known in Roman myths) who came up with the idea of the Trojan Horse. It centers on his 10-year-long journey home to Ithaca following the fall of Troy.
The screen adaptation will be set in the future in outer space.
Pitt will next be seen in the David Fincher-directed The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and the Terrence Malick-directed Tree of Life.
He is currently filming for Quentin Tarantino directed Inglorious Basterds.
