November 25, 2008, (Sawf News) - Hollywood icon Julia Roberts is reunited with British actor Clive Owen in a new thriller about corporate espionage Duplicity.
Oscar-winner Roberts starred with Owen in 2004's Academy Award-nominated drama Closer, which saw the duo play a married couple whose lives unravel after an infidelity.
In their latest film, Duplicity, Roberts and Owen will play lovers who find themselves spying for rival corporations before teaming up to stage an elaborate con.
Production on Duplicity began in New York City on March 9, 2008.
The film is scheduled for release on March 20, 2009.
Roberts, 41, returned to the big screen with Charlie Wilson's War (2007), after a three years sabbatical following the birth of her twin children on November 28, 2004.
Here is a synopsis of the film:
CIA officer Claire Stenwick (Roberts) and MI6 agent Ray Koval (Owen) have left the world of government intelligence to cash in on the highly profitable cold war raging between two rival multinational corporations. Their mission? Secure the formula for a product that will bring a fortune to the company that patents it first.
For their employers-industry titan Howard Tully (Tom Wilkinson) and buccaneer CEO Dick Garsik (Paul Giamatti)- nothing is out of bounds. But as the stakes rise, the mystery deepens and the tactics get dirtier, the trickiest secret for Claire and Ray is their growing attraction. And as they each try to stay one double-cross ahead, two career loners find their schemes endangered by the only thing they can't cheat their way out of: love.
