December 15, 2008, (Sawf News) - A fifth installment of Terminator franchise to be directed by McG was announced by The Halcyon Company at the Dubai Intl. Film Festival currently underway.
McG is currently directing Terminator Salvation' the fourth film of the franchise and the first that does not feature California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
While reviving the franchise, Anderson and Kubicek of Halcyon Co., planned a trilogy and signed Christian Bale in the role of John Connor for all three films. They initially planned to announce the follow up film after assessing the response to Terminator Salvation which will be released in theatres next summer, but seeing the overwhelming interest in the revived franchise decided to start working on the next film immediately, aiming for a 2011 release.
"We feel the time is now to start shaping the next part of this," Kubicek said.
