© AFP Jim WatsonJanuary 14, 2009, (Sawf News) - Performers at the Tuesday night's 'Neighborhood Ball' include Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Mariah Carey, Alicia Keys, Shakira, Faith Hill and Stevie Wonder.
The inaugural ball, the premiere event of the inauguration evening on Jan 20, is being hosted by President elect Barack Obama.
Details of tickets for the ball have not been announced but some tickets are expected to be set aside for local.
"I wanted to make sure that we had an event that would be open to our new neighborhood here in Washington, D.C., and also neighborhoods across the country," Obama said in a statement about the show.
The show will be broadcast on ABC and will feature the first couple's first dance.
