There has been intense speculation surrounding Clooney's return to the NBC hospital drama which is currently in its 15th and final season.
Clooney will shoot for his comeback appearance on Thursday and Friday this week.
ER was recently extended by three episodes; its final episode will now air Thursday night, April 2, preceded by a one-hour clip show retrospective.
