January 28, 2009, (Sawf News) - Here is TV spot # 5 for Marcus Nispel helmed horror film Friday the 13th, starring Jared Padalecki, Amanda Righetti, Derek Mears and Danielle Panabaker.
The film is written by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift.
The 32s long TV spot that starts with the words - 'You know his name. You've heard his story. On Friday the 13th, witness his resurrection.' - gives you a quick glimpse of clips from the film.
The film is a spin on the Friday the 13th film series, whose last film was the 2003 crossover film Freddy vs. Jason, written by the Shannon, Swift duo.
Nispel also helmed the 2003 remake of Tobe Hooper's The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.
Friday the 13th takes pieces from all the three movies in the series so that the audiences get a sense of the history as the film progresses - To put things in perspective such as how Jason attains the hockey mask and why does he wear it, Where is Jason from, why do these killings happen, and what is Crystal Lake? The film tells the story in modern times unlike the previous series.
Filming began on April 21, 2008 in Austin, Texas and wrapped up on June 13, 2008. Special affects were created by Scott Stoddard.
The release date of the film, Friday, February 13, 2009, gels with the name of the film.
This is how the plot is set up:
Searching for his missing sister, Clay (Jared Padalecki) heads up to the eerie woods of legendary Crystal Lake where he stumbles on the creaky remains of rotting old cabins that lie in wait behind moss-covered trees. And that's not the only thing hiding under the brush. Against the advice of police and cautions from the locals, Clay pursues what few leads he has with the help of a young woman (Amanda Righetti) he meets among a group of college kids up for an all-thrills weekend. But they are about to find much more than they bargained for. Little do they know, they've entered the domain of one of the most terrifying specters in American film history - the infamous killer who haunts Crystal Lake armed with a razor-sharp machete...Jason Voorhees (Stuntman Derek Mears)."
