March 03, 2009, (Sawf News) - Angelina Jolie goes undercover today filming for the spy thriller Salt in Washington and New York City.
Amidst her many looks in the film, Sony Pictures and USA Today have released two - A soft-looking all-business blonde and a raven-haired femme fatale who could easily be toting a concealed dagger or gun.
Jolie replaced Tom Cruise as lead protagonist in the Phillip Noyce (Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger) helmed film, playing a CIA officer believed to be a Russian sleeper spy who is out to assassinate the president.
Jolie's character, Evelyn A. Salt, was originally named Edwin A. Salt.
Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers, G.I. Joe) says scripting changes mandated by the switch from "he" to "she" were not trivial.
"I had no idea how complex it would be," he says. "We had to rethink the whole notion of how a man vs a woman operates in the business world, in personal relationship and in friendships."
About Jolie's character in the film, Lorenzo says:
"She's a character you never know. People who think they know the real her may or may not. Those who think they can tell whether she's in a disguise also may or may not ... She tells you her agenda, but are you supposed to believe it?"
"[Her pursuers] have a ton of information to act on, but that's where they begin to question what is real and what isn't," he adds.
Jolie's co-star in the film, Liev Schreiber, plays Winter, her ally and supervisor in the CIA's Russia office.
The film will open in 2010.
