March 03, 2009, (Sawf News) - This behind the scenes look at the making of Terminator Salvation, this summer's highly anticipated sci-fi thriller, shows the filming of several critical scenes and Christian Bale's near accident on set.
"It was a challenging scene -- we had to build a lake -- and Christian went for it as he always does," explains director McG. "He turned an ankle when he jumped off the helicopter, but he survived and was able to make it to the water's edge."
"He wants to do everything himself; he's a guy who really likes to feel it," continues McG. "But there's insurance issues and you get producers to come out and sort of de-engage him from the hook which he's about to hang from the side of the building."
McG told ET that he's shown original Terminator Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger "footage along the way" of the project and regards him as a "partner."
Will the original terminator have a cameo in the film?
"It is hard to say," evades McG.
McG's science fiction war film is the fourth in the Terminator franchise and stars Christian Bale, Sam Worthington, Bryce Dallas Howard and Anton Yelchin.
Supporting cast includes Moon Bloodgood, Common, Helena Bonham Carter and Roland Kickinger.
The film is scheduled for release on May 22, 2009.
