A preview of Public Enemies was seen at the end of the 81st Academy Awards and the first trailer was released shortly after on March 5, 2009. The film is due for release on July 1.
The Michael Mann directed film is set during the Great Depression with the focus on the FBI agent Melvin Purvis' (Christian Bale) manhunt to catch criminals John Dillinger (Johnny depp), Baby Face Nelson (Stephen Graham), and Pretty Boy Floyd (Channing Tatum), in an attempt to curb a rampant Chicago crime spree during the 1930s.
Marion Cotillard will play Dillinger's torch singer girlfriend Billie Frechette.
