Photo Credit: Splash NewsApril 23, 2009, (Sawf News) - Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester who leaked a new single of her upcoming album titled Birthday, has entered into record deal with Universal Republic Records.
The album features Miami indie pop group Awesome New Republic.

Meester has been singing and writing songs for the past couple of years, working on the album between the seasons.
Not all the tracks on the album have been written by her. Some of the songs that she has written are influenced by her life in New York.
"It is fun music that you can dance to," she told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS FM Morning Show in August.
"There are couple of things about past things that are not so happy," she added alluding to her past relationships.
"It's edgy, like electropop rather than bubblegum, and you can dance to it," she told Teen Vogue for its February 2009 issue.
