May 04, 2009, (Sawf News) - Teenage vampire romance Twilight and feel good romance drama Slumdog Millionaire have hogged the nominations for MTV Movie Awards 2009 on May 31.
Twilight cornered seven nods including Best Movie, Best Female Performance (Kristen Stewart) and Breakthrough Performance Male (Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner).
Slumdog Millionaire was a close second with six, including Best Movie, Breakthrough Performance Female (Freida Pinto) and Breakthrough Performance Male (Dev Patel).
The two films face stiff competition in the Best Movie category from The Dark Knight, High School Musical 3: Senior Year and Iron Man.
Kristen Stewart (Twilight) features in the tossup for the Best Female Performance Golden Popcorn Trophy in a category dominated by heavyweight talents Angelina Jolie (Wanted), Anne Hathaway (Bride Wars), Kate Winslet ("The Reader") and Taraji P. Henson (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button).
Similarly, Zac Efron (HSM3) and Shia LaBeouf (Eagle Eye) represent the youth in the Best Male Performance category that additionally fields Christian Bale (The Dark Knight), Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man) and Vin Diesel (Fast & Furious).
MTV has introduced two new categories this year - Best Song From a Movie and best WTF Moment.
