May 04, 2009, (Sawf News) - A concert by Rihanna in the United Arab Emirates on May 28, promoted as her comeback performance following boyfriend Chris Brown’s alleged assault on her in early February, has been called off.
Dubai-based Vibe Entertainment Management Agency was forced to cancel the event after Rihanna’s management told them she won’t be able to appear as scheduled but remains open to performing in the Emirates at a later date.
"Rihanna's management contacted us on Saturday and explained she was unable to come to the UAE in May, but said she is keen to still perform in the region,” Yassin Matboul of Vibe told E! Online.
"Vibe has been ready and was looking forward to putting this concert together for the crowd of the Middle East…This is very sad for us at this time knowing the concert will not happen, but we will not give up and we will continue to put our offer to Rihanna's management for a future date."
The concert producers are now striving for a date this fall.
Rihanna postponed her sold out concert in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, after she was assaulted by boyfriend Chris Brown on February 8.
