According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney’s adaption of the novel will be helmed by Julie Anne Robnison who in the past has directed TV series like Grey's Anatomy (Five episodes) and Cutting It.
Miley plays a rebellious teenager who is forced to spend the summer with her estranged father, while Hemsworth plays a member of the local cool crowd, an awesome beach volleyball player with Ivy League dreams.
Hemsworth starred in the recent Sci-Fi drama mystery Knowing starring Nicolas Cage. He has also featured in Australian TV series like The Elephant Princess (2008) and Neighbors (2008).
Filming is planned to start on June 15 in Georgia.
