June 04, 2009, (Sawf News) - Columbia Pictures' romantic comedy with working title How Do You Know? starring Reese Witherspoon, Owen Wilson and Paul Rudd will be filmed in Washington, D.C. this summer.

Rudd plays a businessman and Wilson a professional baseball pitcher, both smitten by Reese Wiherspoon.

Reese has been spotted practicing baseball on at least a couple of occasions.

Producers are looking at hiring more than 100 local crewmembers and several hundred extras, with the project expected to generate $8.5 million in local spending.

D.C Mayor Adrian Fenty said Thursday, June 4, that the film crew will provide training to some D.C. students during its 14 weeks of pre-production, principal photography, and post-production in the area.

Fenty spokeswoman Erica Stanley says the city didn't spend any incentive money to lure the film project.

The film is written and directed by James L. Brooks and produced by Brooks, Paula Weinstein, Laurence Mark and Julie Ansell.

“I had the privilege of filming Broadcast News in the DC area, and no matter how long or hard the day was, on my drive home,” says Brooks.

“I could always look forward to the beauty of the city. It is, to me, the great city of the world. I couldn’t be more excited to be able to work here once more. I am especially grateful to the Mayor and his Film Commission for doing the heavy lifting in allowing us to come.”
