A 911 call was placed at 12:21 pm after the singer suffered cardiac arrest.
Jackson, whose heart had stopped beating before the paramedics arrived, was administered CPR in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.
Attempts to revive him at the hospital were unsuccessful.
Jackson is survived by three children: Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr., Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince "Blanket" Michael Jackson II.
