June 22, 2008 (Sawf News) - South African actress Charlize Theron exuded demure sophistication as she departed from a press junket to promote her film Hancock in Midtown, New York City, on Sunday, June 22.
Theron, a former model, is known for her keen sense of style; an image that she lived up to at the event wearing a front slit grey skirt gathered at the waist in front, a lace top and a black blazer. She accessorized with brown peep toe pumps, a black clutch and oversized shades. Her bob cut blonde hair was casually styled with a middle parting.
Hancock is a superhero comedy film starring Will Smith, Jason Bateman and Charlize Theron.
Smith plays the title role of a down-and-out alcoholic superhero, who is despised by the public. Hancock is invulnerable to bullets, possesses superhuman strength, and can fly at supersonic speeds. Bateman plays Ray Embrey, a PR executive who helps rehabilitate Hancock, after the superhero saves his life. Theron plays Mary Embrey, Ray's wife with whom Hancock enters into a questionable relationship.
The film's world premiere was held at the 30th Moscow International Film Festival on June 16, 2008.
Theron, 32, became a US citizen, something she had longed to be, in May 2007. She stays in Los Angles with her long-time boyfriend Stuart Townsend, 35, an Irish actor with whom she has co-starred in several films. The couple will not wed until gay marriage is legal in the U.S.
The Oscar winning actress has an unenviable reputation for resorting to expletives that is at odds with her sense of style. Here is how she explains it:
"Sometimes I find it hard to articulate my true emotions, and therefore, as a performer and as an actor I have to resort to filthy language."
