Recalling her tearful awards acceptance speech she said, "I just did not expect to win both of those awards and I've never won before so you can't imagine how overwhelming that moment is."
As for her roles in the two films she said, "I've been very lucky this year. I keep saying to people I can't believe I got to play April Wheeler (Revolutionary Road) and Hanna Schmitz (The Reader) in less than a year. It's extraordinary playing to such wonderful women."
DiCaprio said filming romantic scenes with Kate in front of her husband, director Sam Mendes, was like a family affair, "I was very comfortable with the situation. It felt like a kind of a family - a sort of weird twisted family."
Talking about the kissing scene in Revolutionary Road he said, "I was entirely too used to that from doing that film (Titanic) with her, so to me it was very natural."
