She accessorized with black satin heels, Chopard diamond earrings and a matching chunky diamond bracelet in her left arm.
Thanks to her outstanding performances in The Reader and Revolutionary Road, both favorites at award nights this year, Winslet has walked the red carpet more than in any earlier years, each time looking more gorgeous than before; impressing with her impeccable choice of dress and variation in hair style, letting just her beauty and grace be the only constants. The coiffed look on Sunday night was her best.

Kate Winslet won her first Oscar from six nominations for her performance as Hanna Schmitz in The Reader. In her acceptance speech she said, "I'd be lying if I haven't made a version of this speech before,"
"I think I was probably eight years old and staring in the bathroom mirror. This was probably the shampoo bottle. Well it's not a shampoo bottle now. I feel very fortunate to have made it all the way from there to here."
