March 08, 2010, (Sawf News) - Sandra Bullock was a perfect blend of beauty, style, wit, poise, and talent at the 82nd Annual Academy Awards on Sunday, March 7 at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles, California.
Bullock won her first Academy award from her first nomination at the event for her role in The Blind Side, competing in the category Actress in a Leading Role against Helen Mirren (The Last Station), Carey Mulligan (An Education), Gabourey Sidibe (Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire) and Meryl Streep (Julie and Julia)
In the film she plays a socialite who picks up a classmate of her daughter from the streets and invites him to stay with her and her family. While doing so, the boy and the family undergo a transformation.
She also presented the Oscar for Best Cinematography to Mauro Fiore for the film Avatar.
The 45-year-old actress wore a fitted, gold-leaf gown and accessorized with matching clutch and diamond stud earrings. Her sleek hair was parted down the side.
The red carpet at the event was dotted with actresses opting for high-octane glamour and unusual choices of color. While Cameron Diaz, Sandra Bullock, Miley Cyrus, and Kate Winslet went for metallics, others like Charlize Theron and Penelope Cruz rocked in unique shades of lavender or wine. Accessories were minimal, like a pair of dangling earrings or a bracelet. In a word, it was breathtaking.
