January 30, 2012, (Sawf News) - The 2012 Screen Actors Guild awards were held at the Shrine auditorium in Los Angeles January 29, 2012.

Looks encompassed everything from classic Hollywood styles to more daring numbers, all making their wearers turn heads on the red carpet. Of course, no red carpet event would be complete without actress Angelina Jolie.

Angelina, who is known for looking like the quintessential movie star, apart from her turn as ambassador pulled a fast one on us.

While we were expecting the 36-year-old to show up in a timeless gown with dramatic makeup, AJ read our minds and decided tonight was the night for disco.

Opting for a black halter by Jenny Packham with draped neckline, matching heels from Gucci, and an envelope clutch by Louis Vuitton, she brought 70's glam back in vogue. Topping off the dress was smoky eye makeup, peach blush, and a pink gloss which complemented a seriously hot outfit.

Jolie's long tresses were blown out and worn down her back, echoing the retro feel of her outfit.

She wore gold-and-black oversized vintage earrings, a bangle, and ring from House of Lavande and Platt Boutique.

The dress gave her a completely different identity from what we've seen in the past few events, making for a refreshing change.

Its halter style flaunted a completely toned back and arms, while also going very well with her vintage jewelry. Her hairstyle, a fairly simple affair, allowed the Packham to take center stage.

Makeup showed for the most part, an actress with nothing to hide. Dramatic eyes added just enough intensity to her ensemble, while warm colors on the cheeks and pout gave a light coverage to the rest of her features. Perhaps most striking were the tattoos on her arms and back, which were all visible.

A performer who can surprise us on film as well as on the carpet, Jolie never fails to look amazing. We're counting the days 'til Oscar night!
