London, Oct 23: It seems Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt had a bigger role to play in the high profile adoption of the African child by popstar Madonna.
It is now being revealed that the Material girl was persuaded by the Hollywood couple to adopt a child from Africa, rather than one from the US.
Madonna and her husband Guy Ritchie, were on the verge of adopting a US baby just three months back, but abandoned plans after being advised by Jolie to choose a Third World infant instead.
The Ritchies filled out an application at a California adoption agency, and even underwent the evaluation process as adoptive parents.
UN goodwill ambassador Jolie also pointed out how Madonna could use her fame and money to raise the global profile of an impoverished nation.
“Both Brad and Angelina sold Madonna and Guy on the idea of creating a global family like theirs by taking kids out of Third World poverty,” the Daily Express quoted a source as saying.
“Angelina later said she e-mailed Madonna several times to offer advice and tell her how happy she and Brad are with Zahara and Maddox, the boy she took from Cambodia,” he added.
Not only did the actor couple persuade Madonna to adopt a child from a third world country, but they have been giving her constant advice over the adoption process of the 13-month old Malawian boy.
"Brad and Angelina know all about the adoption and have been helping Madonna and Guy in every way they can. They know how important it is to them and how difficult the process can be," a source was quoted as saying earlier. (ANI)
