© AFP/Getty Images/File Chad Buchanan Washington, Dec 09: Actor-cum-director Mel Gibson has revealed that Hollywood's most famous drinking buddies, Danny Devito and George Clooney are helping him stay off the booze.
"If I ever feel like clutching for the turpentine, DeVito and Clooney just talk me through it, ” TMZ quoted him as saying.
The Australian-born actor, who has admitted being an alcoholic for most of his adult life, was actually making fun of fellow actor Danny DeVito's recent drunken appearance on US TV.
DeVito slurred his way through an interview on American morning talkshow ‘The View’ last week after a boozy night out with another Hollywood leading man, George Clooney.
Gibson, who appeared on ‘The Tonight Show With Jay Leno’ to promote his new film Apocalypto, walked on stage eating a cookie.
He explained it by saying; "The security guard told me that if I walked a straight line I could get a cookie”.
Mel also revealed that he's been sober for about four and a half months, saying, "It's kind of a gradual thing. It doesn't happen overnight. And it takes a little time, that's all. The lights might come on." And then there was light. (ANI)
