Washington, Jan 24 (ANI): Singer Nick Lachey is glad that there was no mud-slinging during his divorce from Jessica Simpson, for he now has no regrets about the way he acted.
Lachey and Simpson followed in the footsteps of stars such as Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston, who didn’t air their dirty laundry in public, and managed to get through their divorce in a dignified manner.
The ‘What’s Left of Me’ singer insisted that rather than indulge in a mud-slinging match, couples should take the "high road" during a divorce, for it saves them the experience of looking back and regretting all that they had said or revealed.
"You have to always have a good perspective and a good attitude and always take the high road. You never want to look back and regret the way you acted," People magazine quoted him, as saying.
Lachey, who took home Cosmopolitan magazine's Fun, Fearless Male of the Year Award on Monday, Jan 22, revealed that though he had definitely had some “tough times” during his divorce, he had always tried to take the high road – something that he is now grateful for.
"Certainly I had some tough times in the past year. Hopefully I tried always to take the high road and make the most of the situation," Lachey added.
The 33-year old singer, who spilt from Simpson in 2005 with the divorce becoming final in 2006, has now found love in the arms of MTV presenter Vanessa Minnillo. (ANI)

Not really sure how Nick can say he took the high road when in one of his songs on the album he says he wants her to beg,....and hurt the way he did. Doesn't sound like a guy who was all hunky dory in the parting.
I am also amazed that more wasn't written about his hooking up so fast with VM. Most people think it all happened a little too fast for a guy who professed his undying love for his soon o be ex, then suddenly almost overnight he whistles a different tune. I think he and V must have been seeing each other beforehand.
Also, no one really addressed the fact she jumped from Jetter to Nick so fast. How do these people who claim to love other people forget them so fast?
