2 February 2007 (Sawf News) - Katie Holmes waxes eloquent on her daughter Suri, joys of motherhood, her career and most of all her husband Tom Cruise in an interview for the March issue of Harper's Bazaar.
"I have a husband and children that I adore. I have a career that I really love. When I sit back and reflect, it's-wow! I am very grateful," she tells the magazine. "Tom makes me feel like the most beautiful woman in the world and has since the day I met him. I love being with him. I love calling him husband."
Katie "definitely" wants to have more children with husband Tom Cruise
The couple got married according to Scientology rites on Nov. 18, 2006 in a fairytale wedding at a 15th-century Odescalchi castle in Bracciano, Italy, sealing the deal with a three-minute kiss while surrounded by 150 of their nearest and dearest. They then flew to the exotic Maldives islands for their honeymoon.
Katie, 28, fondly recalls her first date with Cruise, "Here in Los Angeles, my first motorcycle ride…to the beach. It was amazing and fast. I was in love from the moment that I shook his hand for the first time."
Proud and joyous of her motherhood she says, "I felt so proud to be having a baby and so excited. And I felt closer to other women-to my sisters, to my mom. I felt empowered, like 'I've given birth. I did it! There's nothing I can't handle."
"I've really enjoyed this time that I have taken to be with Suri as well as the challenges of the first couple of months: feeding and pumping, learning to decipher what each cry means -is she hungry? Is she tired? Does she need a fresh diaper? And figuring out how to really help her."
Katie recently dropped out of The Dark Knight, Christopher Nolan-directed sequel to Batman Begins. She is reportedly set to join Queen Latifah and Diane Keaton in Mad Money, a project being financed by Nu Millennium and Granada.
However, she remains non-committal about her return to films, "I have a whole new set of responsibilities. My work is very important to me. My family is very important to me. When I go to work, it will be the right thing, worth my time and worth my time away from my family."
Katie, who surprised her fans by regaining her svelte form very soon after the birth to her daughter, reveals her secret, "I have always loved to run, and it has now helped me lose the extra baby weight."
