February 27, 2007 (Sawf News) – Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson reveals on the Today Show she was actually not happy with her fashion choice for the 79th Acadamy Awards.
The 25-year-old, who won the best supporting actress Oscar for her strong and mesmerizing performance in the film Dreamgirls, told Matt Lauer on Tuesday that her outfit was her only Oscar regret.
Many critics had already expressed their disappointment at her choice of wearing a metallic bolero jacket over her rather unexciting brown Oscar de la Renta dress.
Page Six reported that Hudson had in fact been forced to wear the outfit by her stylist, Vogue editor Andre Leon Talley.
“Jennifer was kind of sponsored by Talley and Vogue," tells a Page Six source. "Andre insisted she wear that hideous Oscar de la Renta dress with the awful, awful gold python bolero."
The source adds that “Jennifer really didn't want to, and so [noted celebrity stylist] Jessica Paster got her a beautiful gold Roberto Cavalli custom-made. But when Andre found out, he went ballistic. Moments before she left for the show, there was a power struggle and Jennifer ended up putting his outfit on."
Upon receiving her Oscar, Hudson was overcome with emotions and could not hold back the tears. It is a shame that her fashion faux-pas has now slightly over-shadowed her amazing win.
