London, Mar 22: Sir Paul McCartney’s estranged wife Heather Mills insists that it is his lawyer that is making the couple’s divorce ‘drag out’.
In an interview with Larry King on his show, Mills revealed that despite reports, the couple had not reached a settlement.
"There's no settlement," the Daily Mail quoted her, as saying.
Mills then launched an attack on Macca’s divorce lawyer Fiona Shackleton, and blamed the attorney on making things ‘as difficult as possible’.
"Fiona Shackleton wants to drag things out. She's said some pretty mean-spirited things about me when I was in a wheelchair. But she is not a very nice person and she has made it as difficult as possible," she said.
Macca hired Shackleton, who also represented Prince Charles when he split from Princess Diana in 1992.
Known as ‘steel magnolia’ for her skills in the courtroom, Shackleton not only made sure that Diana signed a legal order preventing the Princess from discussing the details of the agreement.
Mills, on her part, has hired Princess Diana’s lawyer Anthony Julius, who secured her a 17 million pounds settlement.
Heather also reiterated on Larry King Live show that she still loves Macca, and that if not for the legal eagles, the two would already have moved on.
"I still love Paul, he is the father of my daughter and I will never speak badly about him. We are still friends, it is only the lawyers who have made things difficult," she said.
The animal rights activist is currently in the US where she is taking part in the celeb reality dance competition ‘Dancing with the Stars’.
Her partner and she were awarded a perfect score on their first turn on the dance floor by the judges when the show premiered on 19 March. (ANI)
