Washington, Mar 27 (ANI): Singer Jessica Simpson has finally handed over the keys of the brand new minivan that she donated to a Mexican orphanage, to the home’s in-charge, a month after the announcement of her contribution was made.
The 26-year-old drove through the gates of Casa Hogar Elim orphanage in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, in a white 2007 Chrysler Town & Country, as the children cheered for her.
Mama Lupita, who runs the home, was the first one to give the pop star a hug.
”The kids were cheering when she pulled up. They surrounded the car and were so excited to see her. They kept saying, 'Muchas gracias! Muchas gracias!' A few of them spoke English and said, 'We love you, Jessica,” People magazine quoted her rep, as saying.
Simpson said that she was glad that she could help the orphanage.
"I'm so honored and happy to be able to help,” she said.
A mariachi band was organized by the children to surprise the singer and the kids gifted Simpson an imprinted plaque with a photo of the home’s inmates and a beaded necklace that they had made for her.
Simpson was truly amazed by the touching surprise.
"What an amazing surprise,” said Simpson.
The pop star had exchanged a Chrysler Crossfire sports car that she won at a booty suite at the MTV's Video Music Awards, for a mini van, to help the children’s home.
