19 April 2007 (Bang) - Chris Rock has asked a court to determine whether he is the father of a teenage boy alleged to be his.

The comic star has filed papers seeking to settle the paternity dispute started by journalist Kali Bowyer - who claims her 13-year-old son is the result of a fling with the star.

According to papers filed by Rock's attorney to the Bulloch County Superior Court on Monday (04.16.07), Chris "desires to contribute to the support, maintenance, and education" of the child if it is proved he is the father.

Brett Kimmel, Bowyer's lawyer, said his client is "looking forward to establishing that Mr. Rock is the father of their son and bringing the case to a swift conclusion".

Kimmel did not comment on the nature of Bowyer's relationship with 'Bad Company' actor, nor why she waited 13 years to file a paternity claim.

It has been reported that Bowyer unsuccessfully approached Rock privately on the matter for several years.

Rock, 42, has been married to Malaak Compton since November 1996. The couple have two daughters, Lola Simone, four, and Zahra Savannah, who will turn three in May.
