6 July 2007 (Sawf News) - According to Christopher Anderson, author of "After Diana: William, Harry, Charles and the Royal House of Windsor," army brass in the UK is keen to give Prince Harry combat experience but they want to keep his deployment secret to preclude heightened threat levels for him and the soldiers he will lead. The brass planned to secretly send Harry abroad for training and then quietly move him into Afghanistan.
The 22-year-old tank commander, who holds the rank of Cornet (equivalent to Second Lieutenant) in the Blues and Royals regiment of the Household Cavalry of the British Army, was sent to Alberta, Canada on the sly but blew his cover there when he was spotted partying at a night club.
"Now Harry's commanding officers are back at square one trying to figure out how to get him in a combat zone without the press finding out," says Andersen.
The hormonally charged Harry meanwhile keeps threatening to quit the army if he is not deployed in a combat zone.
