The Dukes of Hazzard star was at Silver Spoon Beach House in Malibu with five close friends Tuesday morning and had plans to spend the whole day at the beach, reports Eonline.com.
That was until more than a dozen paparazzi descended on the house within two hours of Simpson arriving there.
The startled actress decided to cut short the celebration and has no plans of returning.
"She couldn't deal with it," one source said. "She kept saying she didn't want her friends to go through that. So, they stayed inside and then just left."
Upon her return to Los Angeles, Simpson was greeted by a host of decorations in an awaiting SUV full of Happy Birthday messages for her, tells Access Hollywood.
Simpson will be in New Orleans this week where she begins shooting her next movie, Major Movie Star.
