September 16, 2008 (Sawf News) - Prince William's decision to serve in the Royal Air Force, as a helicopter pilot flying search and rescue missions, even after his stint with the armed forces ends in December, will put a hold on any wedding plans with his girlfriend Kate Middleton by at least two years.

Earlier, there have been reports that the king in waiting will marry his girlfriend of six years next year.

"From January he will start an intensive 18-month training period at RAF Kinross in Scotland," a Royal source told The Sun.

"This rules out him marrying any time before the summer of 2010. It may not be what the public wants to hear, but the champagne must stay on ice for now."

On successfully completing his training, the Prince will do a three year operational stint on Sea King Helicopters, as flying officer Wales, earning around 30,000 pounds a year. He will work 24 hour shifts attending to emergencies across the country, airlifting his countrymen in distress to safety.

Earlier this year in May, the Prince completed his basic flying and helicopter training during a four month stint with the RAF.
