Speaking on Ryan Seacrest's morning show on KIIS FM, Miley said, "I just think right now everything is really good. He's been a really great friend more than anything."
Miley, 15, who has been on several chaperoned dates with the 20-year-old model, since he was first seen with Miley in mid September attending Sunday church with the Cyrus family, refuses to categorically commit on their current status.
Asked if they were dating, Miley said, "Maybe. Maybe not."
She and her family are, however, open to the idea.
"My family's like, whatever happens, happens," she says.
"Everyone started judging us as soon as we started hanging out."
"He's a really great Christian guy. We have the kind of relationship where we can talk about [things related to being in the public eye] and he gets it," says Cyrus.
Justin, who is also an aspiring country singer, is working with Miley's dad, and that weighs in on the relationship.
"That's what would be hard about dating him," explains Miley. "What if anything happens? What would happen after that?"
