Balfour, who has earlier served prison time for attempted murder and carjacking, was detained within hours of the murders being discovered for parole violation.
Julia and Balfour married on December 30, 2006 but their relationship turned contentious over money and infidelities, according to family members and neighbors. Balfour had threatened Julia's family members.
Following the murder charges, Balfour has been transferred back to police custody.
Donerson, 57, and Hudson, 29, were found shot dead at the Hudson family home in Chicago's South Side on October 24 by Hudson's sister Julia. Three days later, King, 7, was also found shot to death in the backseat of Jason's abandoned Chevrolet Suburban parked 10 miles from the family's home.
