"Ever since Jen and Brad split, she has tried desperately to find another man who would win her heart and be the husband she's always dreamed of," a source tells OK! for its cover story this week. "But she now realizes that Brad's shoes are impossible to fill."
Since her separation from Pitt in January 2005, Aniston, 40, has dated Vince Vaughn, 39, her co-star in The Break-Up (2006), British model Paul Sculfor, and rocker John Mayer (31).
"Jen put so much of herself into those relationships," says a source, "only to have all three end in heartbreak."
Her inspiration to be a single mother doesn't come from Octomom though! It comes from the plot of her under production film, The Baster, which tells the story of a single, 40- year-old woman who resorts to artificial insemination to get pregnant.
"More than anything, Jen wants to be a mom," says the source. "She has dreamed of having a child ever since she was a little girl, and the fact that she may not have a partner isn't going to stop her from realizing that dream."
