Thurman, 39, and Busson, 46, have been spotted at a luxury resort on the Bahamian island of Eleuthera having arrived their earlier this week, reports People.
Under Bahamian law, a couple may apply for a marriage license only after staying there for a minimum of 48 hours.
The couple announced their engagement on June 27, 2008 after Busson presented Thurman with an eight-carat diamond surrounded by 20 smaller stones. They held a private engagement party on July 9.
Uma started dating Arpad, the former partner of super model Elle Macpherson, in summer 2007. Busson and Elle Macpherson, who have two sons, separated after a three year relationship in 2005.
Thurman and Macpherson were friends till Thurman started to date Busson.
Uma has been married twice before. Her first marriage to English actor Gary Oldman in 1990 lasted just two years, because of the busy schedule of the two actors. She married actor Ethan Hawke on May 1, 1998. The couple has two children, daughter Maya Ray Thurman-Hawke, 9, and son Levon Roan Thurman-Hawke, 6. They separated in 2003 and filed for a divorce in 2004.
