Having signed him up to star opposite her in The Goree Girls, a period musical that she is producing with Kristin Hahn, she is keen to book him for another as yet untitled movie later this year.
“Jen has said they have fabulous chemistry and would be great on screen together. She’s put tremendous pressure on her agent to get these projects to go ahead,” a source tells UK’s Daily Mail.
“They had a fling at the Toronto Film Festival last year but it was all kept very quiet. Now Jennifer’s single again, she’s no longer keeping her admiration for him secret,” adds the source.
The Goree Girls is based on a true story about a group of eight women serving time in Texas' Goree Prison during the 1940s who formed one of the first all-female country and western acts. The women, who captured the hearts of millions of fans, were eventually pardoned.
Gerard has previously dated Cameron Diaz and Naomi Campbell. He is currently rumored to be dating Bollywood actress and Miss World 2000, Priyanka Chopra.
When quizzed about her relationship with Butler recently, Priyanka demurred, "I don’t know if I want to talk about that."
