April 28, 2009, (Sawf News) - Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are wowing Long Island residents walking aisles in grocery stores, as easily as they wow the press and their fans at premieres and award shows.
The most closely followed couple in the world, they are known to cause a stir with their high octane glamour when they walk a red carpet wearing designer dresses, easily overshadowing other celebrities, and sometimes even the event.
Most of the world is reconciled to seeing Jolie and Pitt in photos but Long Island residents are getting a chance to brush shoulders with the couple that can cause a buzz just being ordinary parents, minding their young children, shopping for grocery or grabbing food from stores.
Jolie and Pitt, along with their six children, are currently living in an expansive home overlooking Oyster Bay, NY on Long Island. The family moved there from LA to allow Jolie to film the spy thriller Salt in New York.
A lot of residents of the bay area have run into the couple replenishing groceries from Stop & Shop, grabbing food at Dunkin Donuts or picking up supplies at CVS.
"When you talk to someone who has met them they're kind of glowing," Oyster Bay Town Supervisor John Venditto tells People. "People love saying they saw them. They feel something very special happened to them."
"The reaction across the board seems to be, 'Wow, they're very nice people.' It seems that people like them and like having them here."
When the couple visited Stop & Shop on April 18, with daughters Zahara, 4 and Shiloh, 2 1/2, store manager Katherine Pastore recalls the experience as being surreal.
"They looked out of place because they were so beautiful," says Pastore. "They looked like they were airbrushed when they were walking. I went up to Brad and asked if he needed help and he said, 'No thanks.' I was looking at him but I don't really remember it – it was like a dream."
Long after they had left the store it remained electrified, adds Pastore.
"All the other customers were just like, 'Oh, they were here!' It's the big buzz of the town. We have had celebrities in before and it's exciting, but these are the most famous people in the world!"
When Jolie visited the the local CVS she caused a similar stir.
“She was in my aisle and everyone was kind of looking at her or going up to her," says local resident Alex Reckert. "She looked great. She had on these leggings and sunglasses and signed a few autographs."
