May 09, 2009, (Sawf News) - British chanteuse Amy Winehouse, who has spent most of the year frolicking on beaches in St Lucia, disappointed fans during her first gig this year at the Jazz Festival there.
During an hour-long set, Amy suffered a near meltdown, forgetting lyrics, appearing distracted and inadvertently flashing her underwear.
"Sorry, I'm bored," she told the audience, before starting to sing During Some Unholy War, only to change her mind and attempt to perform Back to Black!
At one point she sat down on a speaker at the front of the stage and stared vacantly into space till a backing vocalist prodded her to get back up and continue.
Her performance, which drew boos from disappointed fans, was fortuitously cut short by bad weather.
BBC quotes Ben, a local resident as saying the performance was painful.
"What a wasted talent," he added. "She is on a one-way road to destruction; it's such a shame."
Amy’s spokesman, Chris Goodman, said in a statement:
"Amy is very disappointed as St Lucia has been wonderful to her and its people have welcomed her with open arms, but circumstances beyond anyone's control meant that this special show did not go as planned."
He said the singer and her band "tried to soldier on" despite the storm causing sound and lighting problems.
