According to TMZ, Mel has informed his estranged wife, Robyn, and their children about the pregnancy which is currently in the second trimester.
Robyn, Mel's wife of 28 years, filed for divorce on April 13. The divorce is reported to be proceeding amicably.
The couple married in June 1980 when Robyn was a dental nurse and Gibson a relatively unknown actor.
They have one daughter, six sons, and one grandchild. Only one of their children, son Thomas (born 1999), is a minor.

Oksana, 39, a Russian singer signed to Mel's record label, Icon Records, currently lives in a house Mel bought for her.
She was earlier in a relationship with songwriter/producer David Foster and lived in a house purchased by him, reports TMZ.
