The film is based on a 1973 ABC telepic about a young girl who moves in with her father and his girlfriend and discovers they are sharing the house with devilish creatures.
“The whole city is very excited that they are coming and they will do everything they can to make sure they feel totally at home in Melbourne," a spokesperson for Tourism Australia told RadarOnline.com.
Celebrity helper Libby Wilson, who is helping the Cruise family find accommodation in the city, is confident Melbourne will live up to Holmes’ expectations – sartorial and maternal.
“It is known for its fashion and has great shopping districts in the Fitzroy and Carlton neighborhoods as well as having a very modern downtown,” says Wilson.
“Melbourne is a very kids-friendly city and there will be plenty of dance schools that would love to teach Suri her ballet lessons too.”
Holmes recently wound up filming for the comedy The Extra Man, directed by Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini. It is the story of a man who escorts wealthy widows in New York's Upper East Side. He takes a young aspiring playwright under his wing.
