July 01, 2009, (Sawf News) - A potent sedative and general anesthetic, used before surgery, was impounded from Michael Jackson's home.
The drug, Diprivan, is a Propofol variant. It's painful when injected and is generally administered after pre treatment with Lidocaine, a local anesthetic that was found next to Michael's body, reports TMZ.
Propofol can cause cardiac arrest when used in combination with narcotic painkillers or in excessive quantities and is only available in hospitals.
It is occasionally abused as a recreational drug, usually among anesthetists and other medical staff who have access to it. Its sedative action can cause euphoria.
Michael had earlier unsuccessfully attempted to procure Diprivan from a registered nurse, who told ABC's Good Morning America today that Michael begged her for it saying he needed it for insomnia.
