July 01, 2009, (Sawf News) - Michael Jackson's mother, Katherine, will continue as temporary administrator of his estate till Monday, July 6, even though his will names others as executors.
Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff gave Katherine limited control over Michael's estate on Monday, June 29, to ward off any third party attempts to misappropriate funds, after she filed a petition to take possession of Michael's assets "for the exclusive use of [his] three children."
When Katherine filed the petition, she and the court were not aware that Michael had left a will.
This morning Michael's attorney, John Branca, filed a will signed by the singer in 2002 that appoints Branca and John McClain, a music executive, as executors. The will bequeaths Michael's estate to a trust.
The judge, however, declined to disturb the status quo and let Katherine continue as Michael's estate administrator pending a probate hearing scheduled for Monday, July 6, reasoning that there was no urgency to change things immediately.
