July 01, 2009, (Sawf News) - The Jackson family has announced that there will be no public service for Michael Jackson at Neverland ranch as reported in the press earlier.

According to People, Colony Capital, the investment company that purchased Neverland in May 2008, was unable to get an exemption required for a burial in a residential area.

"They couldn't get it in time," a Colony spokesperson says.

A statement issued by the Jackson family rep on Wednesday, July 1, states:

"Contrary to previous news reports, the Jackson family is officially stating that there will be no public or private viewing at Neverland.

Plans are underway regarding a public memorial for Michael Jackson, and we will announce those plans shortly."
