July 11, 2009, (Sawf News) - Debbie Rowe, Michael Jackson's second wife and the mother of his two eldest children Prince Michael, 12, and Paris Katherine, 11, will attend a custody hearing scheduled on July 20.
"[Debbie] says that she will definitely be at the custody hearing," says Marc Schaffel, a former business partner of Jackson and a close friend of Rowe.
Los Angeles County Superior Court judge, Mitchell Beckloff, granted Michael's mother, Katherine, temporary guardianship of his three children on June 29, after she filed a petition seeking their custody.
On July 2, during a 90-minute phone conversation with NBCLA, Debbie broke her silence on Michael's death and indicated she would seek custody of her children.
"I want my children," she said. Her lawyer obtained a week's delay in a guardianship hearing originally scheduled for July 6.
However later that day, her lawyer indicated that Debbie had not reached a final decision on the custody issue.
On Friday, July 10, the guardianship hearing was postponed for the second time to July 20, to facilitate a settlement between lawyers representing Debbie Rowe and the Jackson family.
Debbie, 50, relinquished custody of her two children to Michael in a divorce settlement filed on October 13, 1999 that gave her $8.5 million, an SUV and a Beverly Hills home. She got an additional $2 million for entering into a confidentiality agreement.
