Responding to the inevitable query on his relationship with Swift at the New Moon press junket at the Four Seasons hotel in Beverly Hills on Friday afternoon, November 6, Lautner said:
"You guys have seen every single move that I make, so I guess I will leave that up to you to decide."
Swift, 19, and Lautner, 17, first met on the set of next year's romantic comedy, Valentine's Day, in which they play onscreen lovers.
Lautner presented Swift with the VMA earlier this year, a fact that was overshadowed by Kanye West's subsequent infamous storming of the stage.
Speculations of romance between them first arose after Lautner showed up to watch Swift perform at a concert in Chicago earlier this month. A video posted on YouTube showed them in a lingering embrace as Swift went around meeting fans, post concert.
The two reportedly spent a night together on Sunday, October 25, at the Beverly Wilshire hotel.
Taylor Swift is believed to have introduced Lautner to her family; he recently had dinner with Swift's mother.
Like Lautner, Swift has played coy about the blossoming relationship.
"Are we an item? I don't know. He's an amazing guy and we're really close. And, yep, we're in a movie together and I'm really excited about seeing it," she says.
The couple, who as yet share just their first name, are featured as the current OK! issue's cover story.
A friend of the actor told the magazine:
"He thinks she's one of the most beautiful girls he's ever seen."
